Property

Five villages with mountainside accommodations ranging from studio condos to 5-bedroom townhouses in Jeffersonville, Vermont. All units have fully-equipped kitchens, gas fireplaces, and patios. This is a year-round destination with ski school, 8 pools, 4 waterslides, guided hikes and walks, tennis, golf, and a skate park. They also have an extremely diverse award-winning summer camp style children’s program.

Location
Smuggler’s Notch is located in the Green Mountains, 30 miles east of Burlington. It is 4 hours from Boston, and 6 hours from New York. Lake Champlain is within easy striking distance, as is Montreal (though families may find themselves taking the equally cultural Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory tour instead).

Sleeps
2-12, in condominiums with a variety of configurations. Check the website’s property map before making your selection, to determine if you want to be closer to the main village, or on a quieter hillside.

Highlights
Hiking to Rum Runner’s Hideaway, a 6-acre mountain reservoir where kids can fish, canoe, picnic, and play on the Aqua Jump (a marine trampoline of sorts).  In the summer months, the “Summer Fun University” will take your kids off your hands all day, every day, if you want. In the winter, it’s “Snow Sport University” to the rescue. For the very young, Treasures child care center is state-of-the-art, with a professional, reliable, and caring staff. Spend the found “me” time enjoying a yoga class, chocolate-tasting workshop, or guided hike.

Good to know
The resort is a bit spread out, but the convenient shuttle service is just a phone call a way. The “basic” units can be a little tired. Upgrade to something newer if that sort of thing bothers you.  Daily maid is service is available, for an additional fee. Laundry facilities will either be within your condo, or somewhere in the building. Depending on your service provider, cell signals can be weak.
