Aspen Lodge: Sunriver, Oregon

Property
Got a really, really big family? Check out the Aspen Lodge, a new 6-bedroom, 5-bathroom vacation home in Sunriver, Oregon with every imaginable luxury and convenience. Seriously. This 3,600 square foot house has a garage converted into a game room (foosball, air hockey, ping pong), a large Jacuzzi, a dining table that seats 12, and a great room for lounging. It comes with 14 swim and tennis passes (for summer rentals), 2 washers and dryers, and 10 bikes. The deck has jawdropping views of Mt. Bachelor. I could go on and on. Oh wait, I already have.

Location
The community of Sunriver is approximately 3 1/2 hours east of Portland (you can also fly into Bend, which is 45 minutes away).

Sleeps
10 very comfortably, up to 16 maximum.

Highlights
Sunriver is a safe, beautiful, affordable paradise for families. Once you get over the fact that it’s a planned community (and not a “real” town), you’ll enjoy every single minute you spend here. There are miles and miles of bike paths through forests and next to a meandering river. There’s wildlife everywhere you look. You can go river rafting. You can enroll your kids in drop-in tennis lessons. You can go on trail rides. There are divine playgrounds. Children 7 and older can take horseback riding lessons. There are kids camps. The pools have waterslides and “dive in” movies. I defy anyone to have a bad time here.

Good to know
Most of the bedrooms are downstairs. Institute a no-shoes-in-the-house rule so that everyone can sleep in. The bedroom directly under the dining room table is best for early risers (the dining area is tiled and the chairs all have casters so it sounds a little like sleeping under a roller rink).
