Granzella’s Inn: Williams, California

Property
Granzella’s is a no nonsense (don’t expect friendly service but do expect them to quote you the price including California sales tax) affordable motel in Williams, California that has a stuffed Alaskan black bear, three mallards, and two quail flying from the second floor. It’s next door to an Italian deli of the same name and down the street from Granzella’s restaurant (which is being rebuilt due to a fire, but should reopen soon). Suites have fridges and microwaves, and the motel has complementary continental breakfast and guest laundry.
Location
Williams is not a destination by any means but it’s a convenient place to stop if you’re driving from Oregon to California and you need a break from a carload of bickering kids. Granzella’s is an hour and twenty minutes from Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, which is a must-do for families. Elephant rides, anyone? Giraffe feeding? Thrill rides AND good stuff for toddlers?
Sleeps
2-5.
Highlights
Affordable prices. Old-fashioned Italian deli next door.
Good to know
You need mosquito repellent at dusk when the biters come out, and you may find yourself answering a lot of questions about stuffed bears (“How did it die Mommy?” “Can we have one in our house?”). Rooms are decorated with pictures of ducks and gun ammo. The pool’s outside and COLD but swimmable. Besides, there ain’t nothing else to do in Williams.
