Maritim Jolie Ville Luxor Island Resort: Luxor, Egypt

Property

The clean and comfortable single story bungalows here offer good value for the money. Rooms have televisions, air conditioning, coffee/tea facilities, and minifridges. Families of 3 can squeeze into one room; families of 4 to 6 will need connecting rooms. The resort has tennis courts, extensive gardens, and three pools. The infinity pool (with underwater music system) on the Nile and children’s water playground are especially nice features for families.

Location
Slightly removed from the dust and bustle of Luxor (4 kms away, but there are regular shuttle buses and motor launches into town), the Maritim Jolie Ville is on adjacent Crocodile Island with views of the Nile.

Sleeps
2-6.

Highlights
Children’s playground. The hotel’s own zoo where children can ride Cleo the camel, feed donkeys, and hold baby crocodiles (sounds nuts, I agree). Hiring a private felucca for an hour on the Nile.

Good to know
Some of the décor in the rooms is a little dated. If this matters to you, better go with one of the large international chain hotels in the center.
