The InterContinental Pyramids Park is a sprawling resort in Giza, suburb of Cairo and home to the famous Great Pyramids. The 470-room property is set on several acres, a true oasis in the desert, complete with lush, green lawns, gardens and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. The rooms are your standard fare but the resort’s grounds more than make up for it – especially after spending a sand-filled day, complete with a half-cup in your child’s diaper, wandering around the pyramids.
The resort is in Giza off a major roadway (well, as major as Egyptian roads tend to get anyway). Because Giza is a very busy suburb, you’ll likely remain in the resort unless traveling by car in order to keep your children’s limbs intact. Luckily, the resort’s large grounds, playground and three restaurants doesn’t make that too difficult.
Up to 4 in a room. Cribs and rollaways are available upon request.
The hotel’s pool will be a hit not just for your child but also for you. It’s incredibly lovely to know it’s there after a long, hot day.
Good to know
The hotel’s Italian restaurant, La Terraza, was a favorite with my son. He vomited there twice (probably the result of some on-the-go shwarma) and yet they still continued to seat us with a smile (and yes, I’ll admit it, a plastic bag).
