Scandic Hasselbacken: Stockholm, Sweden

Property
The Scandic Hasselbacken is a four-star hotel located on Royal Djurgarden, Stockholm’s pleasure island. While technically considered off the beaten track a bit by Stockholm standards, the Scandic Hasselbacken actually couldn’t be more centrally located for families. The vast majority of the city’s kid friendly attractions, including the Skansen open-air museum, Junibacken (a must for Pippi Longstocking fans!), the Grona Lund Tivoli and the Vasamuseet are all located within a short walk of the hotel.
Djurgarden is located to the south east of Stockholm’s city centre. It’s a quick 10-minute journey to central Stockholm via boat, tram or bus.
Sleeps
2-4 in “family rooms” (two twin beds and a sleeper sofa); 2-5 if one is a baby in a travel crib. Note that quarters are tight and there is very little floor space when the sofa bed is opened. Adjoining rooms may be a more comfortable option for families with older children.
Highlights
The Scandic Hasselbacken prides itself in being kid-friendly. Features like a separate kids’ breakfast buffet table set at a lower eye level and a sandbox and playhouse within eyesight of the outdoor bar help make the property appealing to parents and children alike.
Good to know
The prevailing view from the patio, the dining room and many of the rooms is of the Grona Lund Tivoli’s amusement rides. Be prepared to answer the “when can we go there?” question pretty much the second you arrive. Do set aside time for a trip to Rosendal’s Garden; its flower fields, greenhouses, garden cafe and funky playground simply can’t be missed.
