Casa Da Calcada: Amarante, Portugal

.jpg)

Property
Casa Da Calcada is a converted 16th-century palace overlooking the storybook town of Amarante in Northern Portugal. The hotel’s suites and rooms are lavish, and equipped with all the usual goodies (Casa de Calcada is a member Relais et Chateaux luxury hotel group if that matters to you). Children are warmly welcomed here, and the staff are excellent.
Location
The Casa Da Calcada is located between the Northern city of Porto and the Douro Valley in the picturesque village of Amarante. The Castle of Mateaus is less than an hour away, and makes a good day trip.
2-4 in suites. Up to 3 in standard rooms. Up to 6 in connecting rooms.
Budding princesses of all ages will love the beautiful bedrooms, the grand 1* Michelin Guide restaurant, and the outdoor pools (including a children’s pool). The views over the River Tamega are to die for, and the gardens are beautiful.
We were fortunate to spend New Years Eve here. The town really puts on an exceptional fireworks display and entertainment programme to which the Palace has front row seats!
