Reval Hotel Latvija: Riga, Latvia

Property
Great hotel with reasonable prices. The building itself was once a boxy, characterless Soviet hotel, which has been beautifully converted into the modern Reval hotel. The city view from the rooms on the upper floors is breathtaking. Our children loved the view over the old town.

Location
The hotel is just outside the city center, an easy 10-minute walk. The edge of the city (literally just outside the hotel) is ringed with parks with nice playgrounds – perfect for charging up for a day of sightseeing.

Sleeps
Rooms are not that large. Our two younger children shared a roll-away bed, however, many of the larger family rooms were located on lower floors and one of the main pluses of this hotel is the view from the upper floors.

Highlights
The sauna on the top floor also has a beautiful city view and was a relaxing way to start off the morning. Buffet breakfast is abundant and included in the price. There was a large selection and the Baltic Sea salmon was delicious. Riga is an easy city to visit with children.

Good to know
Riga is a small city and enjoyable for walks. The art deco architecture is lovely. The Occupation Museum is extremely interesting for adults and children, and documents the Latvian history of German and Soviet occupation and Latvian independence. Restaurants are quite inexepensive and most are family-friendly. The daily market housed in the former zeppelin hangar makes a fun visit. The Baltic seacoast town of Jumala is a short train ride away and makes an enjoyable day trip. Amber washes up on the shores in the springtime and keeps the children busy hunting.
