New Family Friendly Hotels in Washington, D.C.:
Hotel Helix: Washington, D.C.

Property
The wisdom of taking young children to Our Nation’s Capitol is debatable, but I think we can all agree that stocking minibars with Pop Rocks, Pez, and wax lips is an idea whose time has come. At the Hotel Helix, families will particularly enjoy the 400-square-foot Bunk Room. Adults can lounge chastely on their king-sized bed (which can be partitioned by a sheer curtain that’s more fun than practical) while the children enjoy their own alcove complete with television, on demand movies, Nintendo, and a twin-over-full bunkbed. The outrageous colors and silly Austin Powers vibe here will please all but the most curmudgeonly.
Location
Between Dupont Circle and Logan Circle, just north of the White House in the heart of Washington, D.C. Walking distance to the metro, and fifteen minutes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Sleeps
2-4 in the Bunk Room (officially). Those who scorn rules will notice that twin + full + king = 5.
Highlights
Animal print bathrobes. Bubbly hour from 5-6 (free champage, beer, and wine). Aveda bath products.
Good to know
While widely considered safe, the neighborhood here falls somewhere between good and sketchy. Room service is from 5-10pm only. There is a Whole Foods one block away. Request a room on a high floor to avoid night club noise.
