The Moorings is a former coconut plantation, now converted to 18 private lowrise homes and 1, 2, and 3-bedroom cottages on 18 lush and beautiful beachfront acres. The cottages have fully equipped kitchens, televisions, and telephones. Most also have washers and dryers. The property has tennis courts and a swimming pool in the event you are able to tear yourself away from the beach.
Location
Midway down the Keys, Islamorada is halfway between Miami and Key West and 1 ½ hours driving time from each.
Sleeps
2-8.
Highlights
Kayaking, windsurfing, fishing, catching hermit crabs and lizards, or just beachcombing on the sugary sand of the Moorings’ private beach. There are friendly resident cats for children who are missing their own.
Good to know
If a full week isn’t in the budget, some of the cottages and houses have a more affordable two-night minimum stay.
