Accommodations:
An absolutely gorgeous, all-suite luxury family resort with golf, an athletic club, a spa, and an amazing 7-acre water park.  The standard suites are great, and the villas are practically perfect.  Assuming you can pry your kids away from this place for even a second, the Phoenix Zoo and fascinating Desert Botanical Gardens are a quick 10-minute drive away.  For an evening you won’t soon forget, save one night for a dinner at western themed Rustler’s Rooste.

Location:
Phoenix, Arizona.  Sure, it’s crazy hot here during the summer, but it seems like a small price to pay for 300 perfect days of sunshine a year.

Sleeps:
2-8 in suites of varying sizes.

Highlights:
Lots of space, very comfortable beds, a lake full of fuzzy, yellow ducklings, and a gorgeous patio complete with fireplaces are all wonderful, but nothing compares to Oasis Water Park.  Get ready for three 8-story slides, a 25-person hot tub, a lazy river, and (our favorite) a gigantic wave pool.  We thought we’d died and gone to Hawaii.  In Phoenix.

Good to know:
Check the water park hours before making your plans for the day.  We were caught off guard by the 5pm closure on our first day at the resort (this was April).  Also, bring sandals or aqua socks as the pavement can get scorchingly hot.

Craving tacos?  Los Taquitos (just across the street, and once featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives) fed our family of four some of the best tacos we’ve ever had for just $19.
