Property
Hotel Mektagonen is a hotel with 149 rooms within 8 stories. It is located 5 kilometers from the center of town in an area that is more industrial than touristy, and is only one block away from a tram stop.

Location
Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city after Stockholm. It is a harbor town located on Sweden’s beautiful southwest coast. Gothenburg is home to both Scandinavia’s largest shopping complex and amusement park. Gothenburg is also known for its wonderful variety of fresh fish and seafood due to the proximity of the North Sea. The harbor and many canals throughout the city give it a certain charm reminiscent of Amsterdam.

Sleeps
2-4. We (two adults, two small children) booked a triple room with a private rooftop terrace, which had a really great view of Liseberg Amusement Park all lit up at night. The triple room consisted of two very comfortable single beds, a sofa bed and a pack and play for our 2 year old. There is a kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator, a range and a table for four. Breakfast is included in the room rate, which consists of a buffet with typical European breakfast fare.

Highlights
Gothenburg is such a wonderful, child friendly city for a family vacation! We purchased the two day Gothenburg pass, which provides you with access to all public transportation, including a ferry ride to the picturesque archipelago, and admission to many attractions such as Liseberg Amusement Park, Paddan Boat tour, as well as our family favorite, Universeum Science Discovery Center. The clean, easy to use, extensive tram system can take you to all of these stops and wherever else in the city you hope to explore.

Good to know
In our brief survey of other hotels in town, we found the Hotel Mektagonen to stand out from the others with its large rooms and reasonable prices. The price you pay for this is that you’re a few tram stops away from the center of the city.
