New Family Friendly Hotels in Sweden:
Sheraton Stockholm: Stockholm, Sweden

Property
The Sheraton Stockholm is a gorgeous hotel in the center of Stockholm, a mere 5-minute walk from the Old Town and 10 minutes from the ferry wharf. But the hotel is also very family-friendly with great beds for jumping and a concierge who knows the ins and outs of exploring Stockholm with the kids.
Location
The Sheraton Stockholm is right in the center of town. It’s a short walk to Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town, with its gorgeous old buildings and cafes. And it’s about a 10 minute walk to the ferries that will take you to Djurgarden and beyond.
Sleeps
Rooms sleep up to 4. Cribs and rollaways are provided upon request.
Highlights
The hotel takes service very seriously. I had initially booked another hotel for my stay in the city and, after half a night, could not endure another minute. It’s a long story involving being given a key for a room that already had a man sleeping in it, missing front desk people, and a door that would not lock. I was desperate and would have paid any amount of money to find another place to lay my head. But when I called the Sheraton, they not only booked me immediately at a discounted rate, but then also upgraded us so that we could check in at an ungodly early hour. When we arrived, they had coffee for me and a stuffed moose waiting for my very cranky boy. They then called my previous hotel and got me a partial refund. I’ll be honest — if the Sheraton Stockholm were a man, I’d consider having a long, torrid affair with it. I was that impressed.
Good to know
Stockholm is very easy to get around on foot. And with taxi prices being what they are, it’s probably best that you take advantage of it.

Scandic Hasselbacken: Stockholm, Sweden

Property
The Scandic Hasselbacken is a four-star hotel located on Royal Djurgarden, Stockholm’s pleasure island. While technically considered off the beaten track a bit by Stockholm standards, the Scandic Hasselbacken actually couldn’t be more centrally located for families. The vast majority of the city’s kid friendly attractions, including the Skansen open-air museum, Junibacken (a must for Pippi Longstocking fans!), the Grona Lund Tivoli and the Vasamuseet are all located within a short walk of the hotel.
Djurgarden is located to the south east of Stockholm’s city centre. It’s a quick 10-minute journey to central Stockholm via boat, tram or bus.
Sleeps
2-4 in “family rooms” (two twin beds and a sleeper sofa); 2-5 if one is a baby in a travel crib. Note that quarters are tight and there is very little floor space when the sofa bed is opened. Adjoining rooms may be a more comfortable option for families with older children.
Highlights
The Scandic Hasselbacken prides itself in being kid-friendly. Features like a separate kids’ breakfast buffet table set at a lower eye level and a sandbox and playhouse within eyesight of the outdoor bar help make the property appealing to parents and children alike.
Good to know
The prevailing view from the patio, the dining room and many of the rooms is of the Grona Lund Tivoli’s amusement rides. Be prepared to answer the “when can we go there?” question pretty much the second you arrive. Do set aside time for a trip to Rosendal’s Garden; its flower fields, greenhouses, garden cafe and funky playground simply can’t be missed.
