New Family Friendly Hotels in Catalonia:

Zenit Lleida: Catalonia, Spain

Property
The Zenit Lleida is an immaculate, modern hotel with 70 rooms.

Location
Lleida is a smaller city located between two of Spain’s most popular tourist stops, Barcelona and Madrid, and a great place for a family vacation in Spain. Lleida can easily be reached by high speed train or by air with the January 2010 opening of the Lleida-Alguaire airport. If you’re traveling by car, you can expect a two hour drive from Barcelona or five hours from Madrid. Lleida is known for its passion for snail eating and hosts a huge snail eating festival, Aplec del Caragol each May.

The hotel is located near the train station and the Segre River. It is a 10-minute walk east of the city center.

Sleeps
2-4. We booked a triple room which included 3 single beds and a rollaway crib that we requested. The room had a mini fridge and provided enough space for 2 adults and 2 children for siesta and bedtime. The city of Lleida provides enough activities to fill the rest of your day.

Highlights
The price was very reasonable so you can spend your extra money on all the delicious food from this region. The front desk staff members were helpful in offering restaurant recommendations and outings including the impressive cathedral.

Good to know
Catalan is the language spoken here. Many larger restaurants offer menus in Catalan or Spanish, but you’ll be hard pressed to find an English menu. There is a tourist bus that offers one hour tours of Lleida for just 1€, which shows you the highlights of the city and the beautiful parks sprinkled throughout.
