New Family Friendly Hotels in Montenegro:
Hotel Conte: Perast, Montenegro

Property
A waterfront hotel in the center of Perast. The hotel has both standard hotel rooms and small apartments convenient for families. Apartments have a bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a pullout bed and a small kitchenette and panoramic balconies.
Location
Right in the town, just along the sea. Perast is a lovely, quiet town on the Boka Kotorska (the Kotor fjord).
Sleeps
2-4.
Highlights
We had a few days we had left free at the end of our vacation and we decided to come back to Perast, since we had really fallen in love with it. Generally, we are eager to see new places, but a few more days in this wonderful town was the perfect end to our vacation.
Good to know
Breakfast is included in the price and is excellent. There is daily cleaning for the apartments. The hotel is located on the main street, but the apartments are located behind the hotel and necessitate climbing old town stairs. The view is more than worth it, but it might not be for everyone.

Bianca Resort and Spa: Kolašin, Montenegro

Property
Kolašin’s premier hotel since 1948, entirely renovated with simple but elegant interiors in stone and pine wood. Attractive rooms, large indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, steambaths, sauna and spa facilities.
Location
Just off the main square of the small mountain/ski resort town of Kolašin, in central Montenegro. Very close the the Biogradsko National Park.
Sleeps
2-4.
Highlights
This is a nice town, very close to the Biogradsko Park and the Biogradsko lake, where there are numerous hikes for all skill levels. In the winter the resort is close to the ski slopes. The hotel can arrange for a day of whitewater rafting in the nearby Tara River – this was a wonderful experience for our children.
The beautiful and dramatic Morača gorges are nearby and the Orthodox Morača Monastery is not to be missed. The monastery also hosts a fish pond, where you can catch your own trout and then have it cooked for you. We made MANY visits here for our sons. This can also be used as a base (although further afield) for crossing into Kosovo to visit Peć (Pejë) and the spectacular Dečani Monastery.
Good to know
The town of Kolašin has an excellent visitor’s center, just off the town square and can provide you with maps and recommendations for hikes and excursions. There are many excellent restaurants in the town.

Dvori Balsića Hotel: Ulcinj, Montenegro

Property
Simple rooms within the stunning and panoramic Citadel of the old town of Ulcinj. Ulcinj was once home to the Algerian corsairs, and Miguel Cervantes, author of Don Quijote, was said to have been imprisoned here for five years. Your stay will be much nicer than his, however.
Location
In the old town of Ulcinj, located along the Adriatic Sea in southern Montenegro just a few kilometers from the Albanian border.
Sleeps
2-5. Families can request the larger apartments, with separate bedrooms and a living room.
Highlights
Friendly staff, very sweet with children. Picturesque location – particularly stunning illuminated at night. Many rooms have big terraces with sea views. Great location for excursions to the Velika Plaža (Great Beach), Ada Bojana, Skhoder (Albania), Stari Bar and Lake Skadar.
Good to know
While I would have no qualms recommending this hotel to families in the off-season, there are two caveats during busy July and August. Ulcinj is very noisy (loud music, outdoor crowds) – so unless you are all heavy sleepers like we are, consider this before booking. The other challenge is parking. There is no driving within the Citadel, so parking is in a lot along the Citadel walls. Always arrive before 8 pm to park. After that time, the main streets are closed to cars and you must find your way to the lot through narrow, twisting secondary roads not meant for two-way traffic.
