New Family Friendly Hotels in Malta:
Le Méridien St. Julians Hotel & Spa: Barruta Bay, Malta

Property
Malta is a fabulous destination for families. Its beautiful beaches, prehistoric temples and delectable pastizzi mean there’s a little something for everyone. Le Méridien St. Julians Hotel & Spa is one of the island’s newer hotels, located on the Barruta Bay.
Location
St. Julians has a lovely seaside promenade with shops, cafes and attractions along the water. It’s a great place for your kids to run their ya-yas out while you enjoy the view. There is also a bus stop at the foot of the hotel with lines to the island’s capital, Valetta, Mdina and the Blue Grotto.
Sleeps
The rooms in this hotel are HUGE. We easily slept 3 in a room and could have added a few more. Contact the hotel to find the right room for you.
Highlights
The hotel was spectacular. The spa is ideal for a little Mommy field trip and walks along the promenade were always entertaining.
Good to know
The hotel does have an indoor pool for rainy days. But it’s the spa’s pool. So you may feel a little weird with your kid screaming Marco Polo to soothing spa music. But the hotel has specific hours for the kids and with a little internal pep talk (and not making eye contact with adults without kids trying to relax by the pool), you can enjoy it without feeling guilty.

Hotel Phoenicia: Valletta, Malta

Property
The Hotel Phoenicia is a lovely, historic hotel in Malta’s capital city, Valletta. The location is fantastic to visit the attractions surrounding Valletta — but it is also adjacent to the island’s main bus depot, where you can catch a bus to anywhere you might care to go.
Location
St. John’s Co-Cathedral, The Palaces of the Grand Master, and the Upper Barrakka Gardens are just a short walk from the hotel. The city’s ancient medieval walls are also nearby and offer an unprecedented view of the island and harbor.
Sleeps
Up to 4. Rollaways and cribs available upon request.
Highlights
You can’t beat the location. You are just a few steps away from Valletta’s main gates and all the attractions nearby. But as an added bonus? The bus depot is also adjacent. Bus is the easiest way to get around Malta — and it is super cheap — so you’ll appreciate this as you try to get out to spots like Hagar Qim, Tarxien or the Blue Grotto. But the hotel itself is a treasure. It has a lovely outdoor pool and huge garden where you and your kid can relax after a day of sightseeing. Plus, the service is incredible. The Phoenicia truly goes out of its way to make each and every guest feel welcome – even the little ones.
Good to know
Hotel Phoenicia is currently going through renovations – so the rooms can look fairly different from one floor to the next. But the great part is, you’d never know it while you are staying! The hotel manages to make these changes without any impact to guests – and incredibly well done at that.
