Sheen Falls Lodge is unquestionably a splurge, but may well be worth it to the truly road weary. Families can choose from suites (rented by the night) or private cottages (rented by the week). Rooms in this country manor house are large and plush, and facilities include an indoor heated pool, Jacuzzi, and plenty of dining choices ranging from casual to gourmet. The Lodge is set in 300 acres of woodlands complete with riverside walks, cascading waterfalls, and Victorian gardens, where families can enjoy fishing, horseback riding, tennis, golf, and bike tours.
Location
Absolutely unbeatable location. It’s a five-minute walk to the charming and colorful village of Kenmare, a short drive to the famously scenic Ring of Kerry, and a 30 minute drive to Killarney.

Highlights
Seal watching boat trips on the Kenmare River. Boulder climbing on the gorgeous sandy beach near Caherdaniel. Hiking to the Gap of Dunloe in the ridiculously gorgeous Killarney National Park.
Good to know
If your kids aren’t up for the l-o-n-g hike in Killarney National Park (where the weather is notoriously fickle, even by low Irish standards), hire a pony trap. You clip-clop the entire route in 50 minutes happily snuggled under wool blankets.
