New Family Friendly Hotels in Guatemala:
Hotel Quinta de las Flores: Antigua, Guatemala

Property
Quinta de las Flores is a small family owned hotel (the property has been in the family since 1850, and the hotel is built on the site of 17th century public baths) in Antigua, Guatemala. This place inspires rapture in all who visit. Its fans wax poetic about the hotel’s gardens, fountains, décor, lush swimming pool, hammocks, volcano views and restaurant. Families are best served by the two-bedroom casitas which have fully equipped kitchens, living rooms with fireplaces, dining rooms, and one and a half bathrooms.
Location
Just 25 miles from Guatemala City, enchanting Antigua is a world apart. This compact city sits in a small valley surrounded by towering volcanoes and features cobblestone streets, restored colonial architecture, and a gorgeous central plaza adorned with sidewalk cafes and craft and textile boutiques.
Sleeps
2-5.
Highlights
TSM can’t help pointing out that the prices fit nicely into this category for once. If the history, culture, dining and shopping aren’t enough for you, try a day trip to Lake Atitlán (explore its shores and villages by water-taxi) or some Spanish language lessons for you and the kids (language programs are thick on the ground here). If you don’t mind mob scenes, hit and browse the stalls of the world-famous Chichicastenango Market.
Good to know
A taxi is the fastest and easiest way to get to Antigua from the airport in Guatemala City. Once you are there, you won’t need a car. For an explicit seatbelt guarantee, we recommend asking the hotel to arrange transportation (and be very clear about the seatbelt requirement).
