New Family Friendly Hotels in Hong Kong:
The Salisbury YMCA: Kowloon, Hong Kong

Property
The family suites at the Salisbury YMCA have living rooms with pull out sofas, and separate bedrooms (with enormous bigger-than-king-sized beds). The suites also have a dressing area adjacent to the closet which we were able to slide the hotel-provided crib into so my youngest could go to sleep earlier. Rooms have fridges, and microwaves are available to rent. The hotel has a pool and kiddie pool, and a restaurant that serves simple dishes.
Location
Situated at the tip of Kowloon Peninsula with views of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong Island, the YMCA is well located for families. Across the street (near the Cultural Center) there is a dim sum restaurant called Symphony. There’s also a supermarket nearby, a giant air-conditioned mall (Ocean Terminal, with a Toys R’Us). Near the ferry is a gelateria and a bakery. And also–for emergencies–a McDonalds.
Sleeps
2-5 in spacious family suites (provided one is a baby in a crib).
Highlights
The ferry is entertaining and cheap to ride, and is only a few minutes away. The harbour is also great for kids who like to watch boats. At night, they have a light/laser show on the buildings across the harbor. If you get a room with a harbor view, then you can watch it from your room. Otherwise, cross the street to the Cultural Center and watch from there.
Good to know
There’s always a lot of construction going on in HK, so it can make for plenty of detours. Some streets must be crossed using underground passages, which is difficult with a stroller. Because the hotel it is a YMCA, there are usually a lot of kids around and sometimes the elevators can get crazy.
