Wait, There’s More! Another 10 iPhone Apps for Kids

Thank you to those of you who responded to our Top Ten iPhone Apps for Kids. Since then, my children have been busy testing the iPhone applications you suggested, plus many others. School be damned.
My theory that the iPhone may be the best travel accessory known to man still holds. Here are ten more great iPhone apps to keep your kids busy and happy.
1. Kid Art
Ages 2 and up, $0.99
Wonderful doodle application with simple color controls for younger kids. Shake to start a new picture (iPhone shaking is an important feature, according to my kids, so time to buy a protective cover). I like this app because you can save drawings to your photo library to use in other apps, e-mail or print.
2. BubbleWrap!
Ages 2 and up, $.99
Who doesn’t like to pop bubble wrap? Incredibly therapeutic, this adorable app is irresistable. Kids (and most likely adults) love the changing background colors and discovering how to make bigger bubbles with different noises.
3. ABC Animals
Ages 2-5, $2.99
A beautifully illustrated application, ideal for introducing your child to letters and to your iPhone. Don’t be fooled by what appears to be simple flashcards. The trick is to teach your child to double-tap to hear phonics and trace the letters.
4. Old MacDonald
Ages 2-5, $1.99
A fun, interactive musical book, with different languages (English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian), several instruments (violin, cello, piano, kazoo), and a “record-your-own-voice” feature. Includes 12 colorful pages of fully interactive, original illustrations.
5. Match Magic
Ages 2-5, $.99
Kids match two images, join them by drawing a line on-screen, then shake the iPhone to start another set of images. Also check out Math Magic (Ages 4-7), Word Magic (Ages 4-6) and Math Series (Ages 5-8) from the same people.
6. Create a Cartoon Face
Ages 3 and up, $1.99
Take noses, eyes, mouths, hair, facial hair, and hats to create your own hilarious and original faces.
7. reMovem
Ages 4 and up, free
Addictive game where you aim to group and then remove as many little balls as possible. Popular enough to have a Facebook and Twitter group. Your kids will love the colors, sounds and disappearing balls. A more complex version is available for $1.99.
8. DizzyBee
Ages 4 and up, free
Tip and tilt your iPhone to help Dizzy Bee collect flowers and avoid baddies. Very cool noises. Challenging and rewarding, as kids move up levels.
9. Skizzle
Ages 4 and up, $.99
Create simple to difficult jigsaw puzzles out of photos. My daughter loves sliding the pieces to fix her baby photos. Add a time limit to make it more challenging for older children.
10. Trace
Ages 6 and up, free
Thought-provoking app, where you help a tiny person work his/her way through 120 obstacle-laden levels by drawing inventive paths on your screen. Amazing that it’s free.

Amendment: Number 2. BubbleWrap! is now FREE!
Many friends and contacts are asking me about references for kids games on their iPhones & iTouches. I immediately refer them to travelsavvymom, both to the original top 10 list, and to this follow up list. Folks love it! It’s a great starting point to get people up an running with kids apps on their new devices.
Just came across a GREAT app called THE BIRTHDAY.
It’s a book
It’s a game
It’s an iphone app!
Just came across this interactive book that my kids LOVE.
It’s totally cute AND educational. It’s amazing how it gets kids to learn.
Every once in a while the narrator asks kids to help the characters out with something. Because kids are all into the story, they happily work out problems. Most are geared towards 4-5 year olds, but some are for older kids (6-7) as well.
