The Best of the Best
‘Tis the season where “Best of” lists abound. They are addictive, aren’t they? And they come in all shapes and sizes. So, not to be left out, here is my favorite top five fill-in-the-blank travel lists.
1. The Times (UK): The 36 Best Travel Ideas for 2009
Thirty six did seem quite a long list, but The Times has some awesome ideas, accompanied with dates and useful links. I don’t know if I will be able to resist Snowbombing in Austria in March, or the Camel Fair in Rajasthanin in October.
2. TravelRants.com: Five Popular Travel Consumer Complaints
Nothing is more fascinating than other people moaning. Darren Cronian at TravelRants compiled this Top 5 list based of the complaints TravelRants received in 2008. I have to say, airlines taking advantage of human errors makes me rant and rave too.
3. Mudslide Mama at Fodors.com: Top 10 Things Your Kids Can and Can’t Do on Vacation
Did you know that the TravelingMamas have been blogging at Fodors.com this month? MudslideMama (a.k.a. Jennifer Miner) provided this lighthearted list which she dubs “The Vacationing Parents’ Bill of Rights.” Also check out Top Family Travel Trends of 2008 by CajunMama (a.k.a. Shannon Hurst Lane).
4. Los Angeles Times: Best Travel Photos of 2008
Photo number 4, 7 and 10 are my favorites in this inspiring collections of photos from this year’s Los Angeles Times Travel section.
5. TravelandLeisure.com: 2008 World’s Best Awards
The 13th annual poll from readers of TravelandLeisure.com provides a great resource of best hotels, spas, airlines, cruise lines, outfitters, cities, and islands. I am not sure why but I love looking at the change in ranks from 2007.
If you know of any good family travel posts for our Friday (and sometimes Saturday) links section, send them to jane@travelsavvymom.com.
