Home Exchange, Teens, and Free Tour Guides in Paris

November 22nd, 2008 | by Jane Rytina 1 comment

It’s been a diverse week for family travel in the blogosphere, so this week’s finds are literally and figuratively all over the map.  Enjoy!

1. Seeing Paris with the locals

A few weeks ago, the San Francisco Gate caught my attention with Paris Greeters offer friendly, free tours, about a group of Parisians who revel in showing you the best of Paris. Since then I have been searching for groups in other cities, but to no avail. I would love to get a list of great “unofficial” city tour guides. You know, not the open-air bus kind, but the locals who really know their stuff.

2. Another great home exchange resource

Hello to Lois Sealey at Travel the Home Exchange Way. Born in Canada, now residing in London, Lois has over 20 years experience in travel. Her blog not only covers all you want to know about Home Exchange, but also great reviews on books and movies.

3. Teenage insight into family road trips

If you want to feel uplifted, please check out this article, Road Trips: Hitting The Open Road by Theresa Condon featured on FamilyTravelForum.com. It links to five superb travel accounts written by teenagers about their experiences on family road trips.

4. Family lanes in airports

Well here’s hoping that the new Family Lanes helped you if you traveled by air this Thanksgiving week. Excuse my skepticism, I’ve yet to experience one. Help in an airport – now there’s a concept!

5. Baby as fashion accessory?

Susanna at A Modern Mother covers the controversial Motrin ad that claims we use our children as fashion statements. Read her irresistibly-titled article called article, Hey Mums, do you wear your baby as a fashion statement?

Thought your visitors may be interested in learning about our home exchange site, 1st Home Exchange, http://www.1sthomeexchange.com.

We are one of the larger sites with listings in 130 countries. We do a really good job at covering some popular destinations such as France – the world’s number one travel destination! I’m certain that anyone considering a trip to France will appreciate the extensive choice of exchange listings.

Visitors new to home exchanging will find articles and videos that provide details on how this travel alternative work.

For families traveling with children, a house swap has numerous advantages including accommodation with multiple rooms which is far more relaxing than a single hotel room.

A home exchange is a great way to save thousands. A home exchange holiday costs no more than staying at home (plus airline tickets).

To help you save on airline tickets, our site includes a flight search engine, http://www.1sthomeexchange.com/flights.php that “googles” over 500 travel sites looking for the best deal on a flight. The best part of our time saving tool that saves you money, is that it’s free to use, whether you are a member or not!
