Friday Finds: Volunteering, Back to Nature, and Budgeting

Want to volunteer, get your kids outside, or stick to a budget on vacation? Read on.
1. Make a Difference
This is the first of two links to great Travelocity programs. Travel for Good allows families to combine exploring the world with volunteering. Check out the volunteer stories for ideas near and far from home.

2. Getting Kids Back to Nature
The second too-good-to-ignore Travelocity program is Children & Nature. This is a great resource for road trips and outside adventures.
3. Spend Wisely!
MudslideMama, at TravelingMamas.com, has written a very useful article Top 5 Tips for Finding a Family Vacation that Fits your Budget. I loved number four, the home exchange.
4. Kids’ Travel Blog
Many of us follow – with envy – the Jenss Family at National Geographic as they travel around the world. But did you know their kids also blog about their experiences at Global Bros? This week the kids write about Halloween in Thailand. Travel from a kid’s point of view – adorable! And your kids will love the photos.
5. Magazines for Kids
Love them or hate them, kids’ magazines are great for travel – lightweight, easy to pack and carry. Check out Magazines for Kids at About.com. It takes a little scrolling to avoid the ads, but there are great ideas for magazine favorites for preschoolers, girls and boys.

Re #3 ‘I loved number four, the home exchange.’
I’m so glad you have highlighted home swapping is it definitely is a great way to save money and a relaxing way to vacation with children.
I hope you will check out my site (I’ve been running it in London since 1985) and blog for more information on swapping homes. If you have any questions I would be delighted to answer them.
Cheers
Lois
Thank you for the comments. Your Home Exchange site looks great. (http://homeexchangetravel.blogs.com/).
Carolina – I am glad the links were useful to you. I like them too. Especially the resource on Children & Nature.
