Four Seasons for Families? Yes!

Win a $500 gift card for a family getaway at any Four Seasons property

Let’s play a word association game.  I’ll say a phrase, and you say the first thing that springs to mind.  Ready?

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Did you say, “family vacation”?  I’ll bet you a fancy room service dinner you didn’t.

But guess what?  Four Seasons goes out of their way to provide luxury, worry-free vacations for families.  Staying at one of their properties won’t be the cheapest option, but it might very well be the most fun and relaxing.

Amenities for the smallest VIPs

One of the biggest benefits of staying at a Four Seasons is the luxury of traveling light.  All properties offer personalized welcome amenities for kids, child-sized bathrobes and slippers, strollers, and complimentary use of baby furnishings and toiletries.

Looking forward to not cooking on vacation?  You’ve come to the right place.  While adults enjoy regional culinary delights, kids can order healthy, appealing meals from the kids’ menus that are available at every property.  Even better, children under five always eat free.

Big fun for little people

Every Four Seasons hotel offers an imaginative (and almost always complimentary) Kids for All Seasons program that’s unique to that location.  Most programs are active, creative, or educational, but there are plenty of video games, ping pong tables, and swimming pools too.

Your kids can go on a gecko hunt in Maui, learn about sea turtles on Nevis, take golf lessons in Texas, and do cowboy crafts in Scottsdale.  Or they could take a salsa dancing class on the beach in Mexico or take a pastry workshop in Paris.  Can you spell v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n?

There are unique programs for the entire family too.  You can go on a marine biologist-guided Manta Ray Snorkel Safari in the Maldives, learn to play the ukelele in Hawaii, or volunteer together for half a day at a non-profit organization in Austin, Texas.

Or you can just relax and do nothing at all.

Win a $500 Four Seasons Gift Card!

We’ve got two $500 Four Seasons Gift Cards to give away to two lucky readers.  These wonderful cards never expire and can be used at any Four Seasons (including the newly-opened Four Seasons Hotel Denver and the soon-to-open Four Seasons Resort Vail) for anything from accommodations and room service to spa treatments and leisure activities.

The contest is open to residents of the U.S. who are 18 or older and runs from now until Thursday, December 16th at midnight PST.  Only one entry per person please.  Members of the Travel Savvy Mom team and their immediate family members are sadly not eligible to win.

How to enter

1.  Go to the Four Seasons website and choose a property you’d like to visit (this is just for fun by the way—if you win, you can use your card at any Four Seasons property).
2.  Leave a comment on this post telling us where you’d like to go and why.
3.  Cross your fingers.

We’ll randomly draw two winners on December 17th, 2010 and notify them by email.  Good luck and happy holidays.

Four Seasons in Chicago would be amazing! We are planning a trip across country next fall and Chicago would be an amazing stop over. Fingers crossed! :)

2. Diana on December 3rd, 2010

I would pick the resort at Peninsula Papagayo because I’ve heard lovely things about both the resort and about vacationing in Costa Rica. I also loved the post from the mom on her around-the-world trip stopping and settling there! Who knows what will happen when you vacation in Costa Rica? :-)

3. Elizabeth Bram on December 3rd, 2010

I would love to take my 4 1/2yr old to the London Park Lane hotel in London to see family and friends without imposing on them! She would have the best time!

4. Chris on December 3rd, 2010

So tough! I guess it goes without saying that they are all beautiful? But I’d Bangkok! I’ve always wanted to visit, and what a wonderful place to stay while exploring this amazing city.

5. Carolee Hazard on December 3rd, 2010

Koh Samui in Thailand. Definitely Thailand – I have wanted to go there for decades. The country is so beautiful, the food so delicious and Thailand has always held a sense of exotic mystery for me. As a second choice, East Palo Alto. : )

6. Jenn on December 3rd, 2010

Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay. A) After 14 years, it’s time to get a do-over on our honeymoon. and B) You can’t beat that incentive for getting swimsuit ready….

Pick us!

11. Susan on December 3rd, 2010

I’d love to try out Seattle. I love the city but haven’t been back since my daughter was born. So a gift certificate for an awesome hotel plus reasonable air fares to Seattle should make it a special (and affordable) vacation!!

I’d head for summer in Sydney!

15. A Maui Blog on December 3rd, 2010

Wow, that’s tough! I think I’d say Buenos Aires because I’ve always wanted to go there!

Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay! This would be a perfect vacation for myself, my husband, and our two kids! It’s been a long, hard couple of years, but I can feel change in the air, and this would be a great place to set the stage for a great time in our lives!

The new Four Seasons Vail!!

I would love to do this with my children to help them acclimate to their new home.

I’d have to say Jackson Hole Wyoming would be the place for me. I’ve never been to Wyoming and can only imagine what fun things there are to do in Wyoming.

32. James Samples on December 3rd, 2010

I would visit the hotel in NYC. I have never been there and heard it was great.

33. Stefanie Zucker on December 3rd, 2010

I love the look of the Four Seasons Hotel Hangzhou at West Lake – plus it has a SPA!!

34. jen on December 3rd, 2010

What a tough choice! I’d love to do the Maldives tour with my little scientist, but then again visiting where we used to live in Germany would be easier if we didn’t have to impose on friends all the time. Dreams aside, practicality says I would use the prize for the NYC 4 seasons. I take my son along when I go to conferences, and like to find good things for him to do, and for him to be comfortable when he’s at the hotel with or without me. So that’s my choice–the Manhattan location.

35. Monica on December 3rd, 2010

Oh my goodness! Where would I not like to go?! I’d even love a luxury vacation even in my own hometown (if it were available). Dream vacation? I’d love to visit Provence. I was in the south of France almost 15 years ago before I was married and had family, and I’ve been wanting to take my family there. The property and scenery are gorgeous!

I would love to stay at the Four Seasons in Paris–it looks amazing!

38. Katherine Shinault on December 3rd, 2010

Why Florence, Italy, of course!

My fiance’ was born in Italy and we have always said – someday we would go there! It would be awesome to win a trip – for our honeymoon!!!!

39. Aimee on December 3rd, 2010

My oldest son (9 years old) is an aspiring herpetologist who has always wanted to go to Costa Rica! We would all love to see the beautiful plants and birds, while explores the reptilian life.

The Four Seasons resort looks absolutely sumptuous, and I love the family-friendly services and itineraries. It would be fantastic to spend the day snorkeling or exploring the rainforest with our three boys – then having a romantic night out with my husband after leaving our sleeping sons with a resort-provided babysitter! (And then being awakened by howler monkeys the next morning!)

It would be a vacation none of us – particularly our oldest – would ever forget!

40. Theresa Clift on December 3rd, 2010

I would use the $500 card in Las Vegas. We visit every year (adults) and I would love to stay there. I would never spend the $$$ to stay there when Harrah’s resorts comp our room but if it were free I would love to sleep in one of their heavenly beds.

41. Dana Freeman on December 3rd, 2010

I would love to use this at the Four Season Punta Mita in Mexico. Look at the beds, I mean lounges, on the beach!

So many fabulous locations – it is hard to choose. I’d probably go with Maui or Washington DC, but I would really love to go to the Sydney, Australia, hotel.

43. Irene on December 3rd, 2010

I would love to visit the Four Seasons Resort Mauritius. I have three small children and a husband who would love the beach and sun. We live in England, so beach and sun are not something we are able to experience much!

44. Janine B on December 3rd, 2010

Oh I’d pick the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia! I just love Philly and can drive there. I’d love to stay at this beautiful hotel instead of driving back home! :)

45. Bridget Smith on December 3rd, 2010

I just went to an event sponsored by the Maui Visitors Bureau and Lana’i sounds heavenly. If I remember correctly they offer skeet shooting which would make my eleven year old very happy! New York would be another fun choice. My best friend just moved there.

54. Kara on December 3rd, 2010

Paris. Oh Paris! Beautiful, classic, rich…I would LOVE to stay there!

55. Chetana on December 3rd, 2010

Vancouver, BC!
The access to kid-friendly activities, great food and other ‘urban-ness’ married with the proximity to the provincial parks makes Vancouver an ideal location, IMHO!
We used to travel there all the time pre-kid, so it would be fun to go there now, courtesy of the Four Seasons.

56. Sky on December 3rd, 2010

I’d love to go back to New York City! I bet the Four Seasons there is GORGEOUS!

However, we’d probably hit up Denver, it’s close enough to drive and maybe we could see a football game!

57. LauraS on December 3rd, 2010

I would choose the London Park Lane – that looks amazing!

58. Stacey Walter on December 3rd, 2010

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius would provide a relaxing, warm and beachy vibe that my family would love!

Why? Because Hawaii looks REALLY good when you’re in the middle of a winter storm warning.

60. Tacey on December 3rd, 2010

I have always dreamed of staying at the Four Seasons in New York City. It would put me at the heart of the action. I would treat myself to a JetLag massage and then head out shopping on Madison av, near the theater district to see Mary Poppins. Then I would try the tasting menu at L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon (my friend ate at his restaurant in Vegas and said it was to die for.) Oh…..to dream….I hear even the beds at The Four Season are heavenly…..someday…..

61. Cacharya on December 3rd, 2010

Paris please.
We are planning a stopover on the way back from visiting family in India next summer.
It is a brutal journey to/from/within India with a kid – so a relaxing time in the City of Lights is exactly what we’ll need :)

62. Kris L. on December 3rd, 2010

Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island, Hawaii. So beautiful and secluded!

63. Mike on December 3rd, 2010

I would take my husband and 2 year old daughter to Budapest because that is where her great grandfather is from and she never got a chance to meet him before he passed away

65. David on December 3rd, 2010

I would love to take my wonderful wife to Whistler. She has never been and loves to ski, when we have the time. She gave birth to quadruplets in May and in July was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. She has powered through the radiation, chemo, and surgery with amazing power, while taking care of 4 kids, and I would love to take her away for some true pampering and R&R.

66. Thrifty Mama B on December 3rd, 2010

67. Paul on December 3rd, 2010

68. Travis on December 3rd, 2010

That’s easy…Budapest! It looks awesome, and I would go to the Folklife Festival in the summer. I suspect they would have some spectacular hats, and I could learn more folkdances. That would rock!

Definitely Four Seasons Buenos Aires. I keep hearing so many wonderful things about the city :)

I had no idea Four Seasons accommodated families so well. My husband is an Active Duty Military Officer and because of that we weren’t able to take a real honeymoon. Five years and three kids later, this would be the perfect familymoon.

81. Tricia on December 3rd, 2010

Las Vegas sounds awesome

82. Robyn DeLorenzo on December 3rd, 2010

That is a tough decision…so many great locations! I’d say without the baby hands down I’d go to Four Seasons Mauritius or Seychelles. Two locations I’ve been wanting to visit. If I’d use the gift card for a much needed family trip it would be to Nevis! My husband and I had our last couple vacation on St Kitts before starting a family and I’d love to take my family to Nevis/St Kitts to relive some wonderful memories! The gift card would really help sway my husband to take a family trip!!

104. Emily Bliquez on December 3rd, 2010

Jeez louise. London, Florence, Paris? Dreamy as they sound, we’d opt for NYC as our kids have never been east of I-5 (not much, anyway) and they have many friends waiting to meet them.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Ka’upulehu

Hi, I looooooooooooove your site – even if I do not win. I have learned so much here. Just today, I learned that Four Seasons were in fact family friendly. I imagined having to sneak the little ones inside our carry – ons. My favorite place where I have ever been with the family is Japan. I would love to return to Tokyo. So, the Tokyo at Marunouchi appeals to me since it is right inside the Tokyo station. After a long flight how wonderful to have a nice location so near and convenient.
Like Eeyore, I am sure I will never win, but this has been fun. Keep up the great site!
:-)

Jeff Leatham’s artistic genius is now even more jaw dropping – I recently saw photographs of his Christmas displays at the hotel teamed with a collaboration with Swarovski – Flowers as art – just STUNNING! I would love to go and see them in person! Every thing about this hotel is amazing – cuisine, accomodations, service and location. Add to that probably the best city centre spa in Europe and you have an unbeatable combination. I have to stop writing now – it makes me want to be there TOO MUCH!

273. Jill on December 8th, 2010

Definitely San Francisco! My husband and I have always wanted to go there.

274. Laura on December 8th, 2010

My husband and I are both teachers and would love to be able to visit Hawaii during our spring break. The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea sounds perfect for a get away from the hustle and bustle of working with middle and high school students. Plus, the sea breeze and warm sun is a great respite from Minnesota winter weather!

275. Rebecca on December 8th, 2010

I would love to visit the resort in Costa Rica. The beaches are beautiful. I would like for my children to experience the beauty and culture there. It would be a family vacation talked about forever.

276. Mark Young on December 8th, 2010

Four Seasons Bora Bora. Our anniversary is coming up and this would be perfect.

277. Eric on December 8th, 2010

Four Seasons resort Whistler. My Fiancee and I love to ski and we would love to go ski out west sometime.

278. Robert Judware on December 8th, 2010

I would love to go to the Four Seasons Hotel New York. The city is my favorite place to be, especially in the winter. My wife and I are both teachers, and we wanted to have a short honeymoon during the school year when we got married 5 years ago, so we took a 3 day trip to the city. It was so fun and romantic, I would love to relive that wonderful trip!

279. Carol on December 8th, 2010

Would love to go to 4seasons Maui next Thankgiving to see our son’s basketball team in action at the Maui Invitational.

280. Crystal Greenleaf on December 8th, 2010

The Four Seasons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming would be the perfect place for our family vacation!

281. William M King on December 8th, 2010

I would love to be able to stay at the Four Seasons Chicago! My girlfriend and I are in love with the city but sadly as graduate students we have not gotten to visit in a while. Plus it would be wonderful to be able to stay over night and experience the night life and ride the Ferris wheel at Navy Pier and see the city all lit up! Fingers crossed.

282. Mindy Wilham on December 8th, 2010

Definitely the Four Seasons in Maui would be wonderful!!! I’ve never been to Hawaii since we live on the mid-east side of the US, so the price of a plane ticket is ridiculous!! My husband and I would love a getaway!!

283. Kelly Smith on December 8th, 2010

I would love to take my son to Washington D.C. It’s the closest location you have to Norfolk, Virginia – where my dad was stationed when he was in the Navy. My dad died when I was 18 – three years before my son was born. My son, however, is the spitting image of my dad, and I’ve told him stories over the years. He talks about his ‘Grandpa Johnny’ all the time, as if he had always known him. My son is 11 years old now and is really into the Navy and military. Being a single mom, I havent’ ever been able to afford to take him on a vacation anywhere. I would love for him to 1)get to go on a real vacation, and 2) be able to see so much US and military/Navy history. I think it would allow both of us to feel a little closer to Dad/Grandpa Johnny.

284. Alison Gray on December 8th, 2010

Sydney! Opera House, Big Surf and Beaches. Best yet, they speak English!

285. denise on December 8th, 2010

It’s really a toss up on which Four Seasons to visit on Lana’i, but I’d love to stay at the Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay. I’ve visited every Hawaiian island except Lana’i (and of course, Ni’ihau which is off-limits).

286. Erin on December 8th, 2010

I would love to go to the Four Seasons in Austin Texas. I hear Austin is an amazing city and I haven’t been on a real vacation in about 7 years! As a social worker, I should probably look into that!!

287. Alex Stevens on December 8th, 2010

I’d love to go to Bora Bora – it’s my wife’s dream.

288. Kiersten Murnane on December 8th, 2010

I would love to go to the Four Seasons Costa Rica. It seems like an absolutely amazing place. We are really looking forward to trying out the Four Season’s children’s programs there sometime soon. We have enjoyed the Ritz Carlton children’s programs (Grand Cayman has an amazing offering) and St. Regis (new Puerto Rico property has wonderful children’s programs). Thankfully luxury hotels are now recognizing the value in educational activities for children and families. I’ve heard wonderful things about Four Seasons children’s programs.

289. Christian M on December 8th, 2010

I would love the Four Seasons in Sydney, Australia. I’ve been saving up to atake a true vacation and it would be my first one outside of the U.S. Sydney has always been the first place I’ve wanted to see and the Opera House in Harbor is just an amazing site. Would love to see it in person and just to experience all that Australia has to offer.

290. Ryan on December 8th, 2010

I would love to visit the resort in Santa Barbara. My Aunt is getting married at the Biltmore in May and it would be a perfect opportunity for my wife and parents to enjoy the wedding and beautiful Santa Barbara. Crossing my fingers!!! :)

291. Amy on December 8th, 2010

Definitely Sydney Australia. Amazing!

292. Becky on December 8th, 2010

I would choose Nevis. I am in the process of planning my honeymoon in the Carribean for July of this coming year and these gift cards would really help out.

293. Jennifer on December 8th, 2010

Four seasons chicago! Then I’d take my girls to the american girl lunch!

294. Chris Picariello on December 8th, 2010

I am a young, hard-working professional who rarely can afford to take time from my work schedule for a vacation. That, along with the amount of money needed for a fun-filled trip makes it even harder for me. A gift card for a free stay at a Four Seasons would be amazing because it would allow me to be less stressed with the idea of spending more money to relieve stress and get away. I work in a community correction program, assisting men and woman with substance abuse problems. This is a high-stress, low paying field of work, which is why I work two other jobs (gym/car detailing), and try to find any side-work when I am available. I do all of this to try and make ends meet because I love helping people, I love what I do, and I am willing to work hard to be happy.

295. Jim on December 8th, 2010

The Denver Four Seasons sounds wonderful. We have never been to Denver and it is a beautiful place.

296. Amanda Netting on December 8th, 2010

The 4S Whistler. Because all the water we ever see is in the form of rain (minus the occasional snow-pocalypse). I would love to teach the kiddies to ski, and release my husband for a few hours of awesome downhill. Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed :)

297. Shannon on December 8th, 2010

While a stay at any of the resorts would be awesome, I would love a stay in Florence, Italy. I have always dreamed of someday taking a trip to Italy from top to bottom. What better way to start that right in the middle!!

298. Jason on December 8th, 2010

Paris. I would love to be able to take my girlfriend there and propose. Cliched I know, but still so romantic. She is an extremely hard worker and devoted mother and she deserves the best and this would help me give that to her. I just realized that sounds conceited, but I meant the trip to Paris would be the best. The engagement would be great as well.

299. Cheryl on December 8th, 2010

Oh my, so many choices! I think I would choose Chicago because my husband has family there that I’ve never met in the 13 years we’ve been married. The children have gone with him, but we could never afford to all go at once. It would be wonderful to go as a family for once.
P.S. I’ve got my fingers crossed too!

300. Sarah Howlett on December 8th, 2010

Four Seasons Chicago, hands down! My brother recently moved there to attend the School of the Arts Institute. He’s always only been a couple of hours away and now he’s halfway across the country. Taking the kids to see him would be a great treat for everyone, especially if the hotel room was covered! And the Ritz-Carlton, no less!

301. Deb Austin on December 8th, 2010

Jackson Hole because my husband and I plan to spend our 40th wedding anniversary traveling across the US in a camper. It would be a real luxury to spend a few nights in a luxurious hotel along the way.

302. James Bell on December 8th, 2010

I have been with my girlfriend for two years, and i knew she was the one since day one. I am saving to buy her a ring and plan on proposing to her soon. I was going to take her to Las Vegas but this seems so typical and boring. I would live to take her to the Four Seasons on Nevis and propose to her. The hotel and island are beautiful and would be the perfect place to start our life as husband and wife.

305. Kristy on December 8th, 2010

Because it’s so cold outside, I’ve been dreaming of warm locations all week. So I would pick Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita, México for our family vacation. Sun & sand sound like the perfect remedy for 20 degrees!

306. Elizabeth Long on December 8th, 2010

318. Kim Cotton on December 8th, 2010

Paris, Paris, and oh yes, Paris. Great city. I’d love to take my little one through the sculpture gardens, let him touch the face of a Michaelangelo Slave in the kids area of the Louvre and share treats at a small bakery then leave him with a babysitter at the hotel to have a scrumptious dinner in some side alleyway restaurant where the cook peaks out of a window from the kitchen to see how everyone is enjoying their meal.

323. Angie on December 8th, 2010

I’d have a LOT of trouble choosing! Chicago – because that’s where we honeymooned New York – because that’s a dream location Hawaii – do I really have to explain this one? Atlanta – SO many kid friendly attractions that it would be a great family experience! I’ll cross my fingers for the BURDEN of having to choose! =)

324. Valerie on December 8th, 2010

Santa Barbara, California…
Pacific Ocean is my calling
Never been and so is wanting
To see the waves and feel the breeze

To take a vacation across the nation
The joy of time-off is pure elation.

I’ve been saving all year to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend. After downsizing to a cheaper car, taking the train to work, skipping ball games and boys nights out, and moving back home with mom and dad I finally have enough saved up.

I’ve already asked her dad for permission, and I plan on popping the question over the holidays. We’ll be visiting her family in Boston for Christmas and we have dinner plans and tickets to see the nutcracker ballet. All these festivities will leave me pretty tapped. I certainly don’t have the type of funds to stay at the Four Seasons.

The Four Seasons, Boston would sure beat the pull out couch at her Aunt Emma’s house!

Although there are undoubtedly better ways to get time off work, I managed to get thrown from a horse in October, and found your contest while convalescing here, – in Wyoming, – in winter… : }
Now I’m fantasizing about lolling on a quiet, sandy beach, and floating in warm gentle waters (- someplace other than the physical therapy pool…)
After looking at many of the resorts on your website I’m now daydreaming about falling asleep to the sound of waves on the beach at your incredible-looking resort in Bora Bora! ( I have to say that I found quite a few other resorts that looked equally fabulous – but not quite ready to clamber up and down hillsides to get to some of those beaches…) :D

I would love to stay at the Four Seasons property in Chicago. I used to live in the Chicago area and have fond memories of going to Water Tower shopping and then having Brunch at the Fours Seasons/Ritz Carlton Hotel there. It was exquisite. It is such a spectacular thought when I vision that hotel and how well everyone at the Four Seasons treated you. Thanks for offering this chance to relive old memories.

There is something magical about being a luxury guest in your own city, as I was on my honeymoon night at the old Four Seasons Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Fifteen years married now (April!) and the Four Seasons has a beautiful new hotel and we have a cheeky, intelligent 10-year-old son. We don’t get to enjoy our city enough, and what a pleasure it would be to share it with our son while based at the Four Seasons Seattle! He’s already a big fan (as are we) of Art Restaurant — and the Space Needle dessert. As they say in Shrek, “pick me! pick me!”

I can’t think of anything more special than being in Las Vegas with the man that I love. I have traveled the world, but have never been to Las Vegas. He wants to take me to this magical city and enjoy the shows and excitement. What a surprise it would be to book a weekend here with this prize!
