You should have said hello when you were here!

Great suggestions - I'm not sure they all would be my first kid-friendly choices but good stops nonetheless.

Some other good suggestions over at The Edinburgh Guide:

See you around here in Auld Reekie!

Oh dear! I have to add this because I CARE about TravelSavvyMom credibility.
In Scotland it's Whisky (see, no 'e').
In Ireland, it's Whiskey.
Guaranteed to fool your spellchecker.
Very annoying to me since it's Uisce Beatha (that's water of life) in both Scots and Irish gaelic.

Thrilled to find out I'm not the only one who took my toddler to a whiskey distillery (in our case it was the Bushmills distillery in N.Ireland).

Great post, Kayt - not that I took my kids to Edinburgh myself (they have a habit of getting in the way of whiskey experimentation). If I did, though, they'd have loved the castle at the top of the Royal Mile, along with that wholoe high street stretch of shopping and sights. The old Toll Boot Prison, the Witchery (we stayed there overnight - ooh, historic AND spooky), Hollyrood palace at the bottom, and various closes all made me wish I did take my kids on that trip, though. maybe next time!
