The Sweetest Sleep
Soldiers often say that the sweetest sleep is wherever you can get it – and over the years, I’ve seen my husband fall deep asleep in some pretty random spots. Best one? The in-seat nap at a No Doubt concert. I don’t understand it, myself. I’m a girl that prefers to be horizontal, noise-free and swathed in 100% goose down when I’m in dreamland. It would seem, however, that my son takes after his Dad in more ways than one.

Early morning flights kind of kill me. Given that whole horizontal thing mentioned above, I dread getting to the airport in the wee hours knowing that I’m probably not going to be able to catch up on any missed sleep. But Chet? Like always, he finds a way to adapt. Even if it means dropping face down on a dirty airport floor while his Dad and I queue to check in.
Not being a soldier, I’m not sure if this fits in the category of sweet sleep – but it sure buoyed the boy for the rest of a long day of flights. Maybe next time, I’ll just suck it up and join him.

That’s a great photo – and a true testament to the resilience of young children, particularly while traveling.
I laughed out loud when I scrolled down to see that picture! So adorably funny!!!
This must have made the other travelers smile. So sweet!
I envy people who have such an easy time falling asleep. Like you, I need quiet…dark…comfy pillows…
