The Nuremberg Spielzeugmuseum

Spielzeug means plaything, or toy, in German.  Now, just say the word.  Spielzeug.  Indulge me and say it again.  I know you may feel a little weird.  But just let it roll around in your mouth to get a true feel for it.  Spielzeug.   Kinda fun, no?

Even more fun is the opportunity to say it as often as you like.  Say during a trip to the Spielzeugmuseum in Nuremberg.

The city of Nuremberg has a lot of family-friendly attractions.  And I’m going to get around to writing up a 5 Family Favorites soon.  But sometimes you visit a place that is really special and deserves its own mention.  And the Spielzeugmuseum is one of those places.  And I will explain why with the following photos:

1.  You can revisit your own childhood…

…and likely spend the rest of the day singing theme songs and commercial jingles.  Mon chi chi, mon chi chi…

2.  You can learn more about history…

…and wonder what kind of kid really wanted a Hermann Goebbels doll for St. Nicholas Day.

3.  You can have some serious toy envy…

…and silently curse your folks for never ponying up for a dollhouse when you were a kid.

4.  You can make Hannibal Lecter/Jeffrey Dahmer jokes…

…because what’s not fun about that?

5.  And, most importantly, you can play like a kid yourself…

…no matter if you are four or forty.

Nuremberg is really great place, I recently come back to Nuremberg from the US myself now short of three weeks ago, but visited the area several times before moving. So I’m still in the exploring-and-discovering-new-places-and-things-to-do phase.

Best Regards,
