Very cool (no pun intended). Assuming the bears are well fed, that would be a really cool experience.

I could not stop laughing at your comment:
"I’m thinking: do they make swim diapers in adult sizes?"

Hilarious:)

The adult swim diaper part cracked me up. But here’s the thing — I’d love to hear from someone who has actually done this. For a travel assignment, my daughter and I went to Cancun and “swam” with a dolphin named Picasso … only we didn’t actually get to swim (that’s the more pricey “adventure”).

We stood on a platform in the water while Picasso showed us his stuff. Athena, who is 7, was thrilled and I liked it too (dolphins feel like eggplants, if you’ve never touched ones. And their sex organs are hidden away. That comment was for Kimberly…) but to be honest I thought the whole thing was pretty over-hyped and very commercial (and yes, I bought the Memories Forever DVD afterwards for some ridiculous amount of money and yes, when my MIL comes this weekend she’ll be thrilled to watch it).

I also ended up feeling profoundly sorry for the dolphins. They are not mistreated per se but they are also not given enough space to swim and be dolphins. They’re more like circus animals. Anyway, I’d love to hear the inside story from someone who’s done this or other swim with animal programs.
