Fantastic tips, especially loving the scarves.

My 2 boys (2 and 4) love having their own special travel journal - just an empty (nice looking) book of plain paper. This, a six sided die, a couple of coins and a selection of pens, provides endless entertainment... colouring, drawing, we make our own snakes and ladders or race games using coins as markers. Draw a scene and add stickers, draw round objects you find on your travels, practice writing or numbers, tear bits out and make paper planes... you get the idea, endless possibilities, and they feel special because they have a 'big boy's book'. We took a couple of 4 hour plane journeys last month, and both stayed happy and occupied the whole time - thank goodness. xxx

What great ideas!We love travelling with our boys and they love simple things like:

* Reusable Sticker Play Scenes
* Modelling clay (like "Iclay") - colourful clay that you and your little ones can make fun things from that dries in the air and its not messy!
* activity books,
* I also include in a tupperware container - a small glue stick, different coloured paper shapes, stickers, pom poms and our kids love sticking them to their colouring books.

Just some ideas! Thanks for sharing yours!

Wiki stix are GREAT!! We have them in our out and about bags and are great when we travel to the UK (we're English). You can buy them in a good independent toy shop but they are best bought on line at wikkistix.com.

One thing that I find invaluable when I travel is to make up a colouring / games book. I go online to one of the many free printing sites and print off child and age appropriate sheets. It isn't cheaper than buying a book but that way they get 30+ pages of things that they want to colour, dot-to-dot etc.

Great list! Thanks-- I will check these out!
I was delayed at Calgary airport at the weekend and was glad to have a bunch of toys with me for my daughter (almost 3) and the other kids that gathered round in the airport lounge!

Big hits were:
Jigsaw puzzle--which was remade a dozen times
Wiki stix--we made men, flowers, butterfly etc..
Coloring books

Calgary airport also had some kids puzzle stations which also provided amusement.
