San Francisco in Sixty Seconds

It’s only fair to warn you that the following video is:

a) hopelessly amateurish
b) full of parrots
c) significantly longer than 60 seconds

That said, my husband almost had a laughter-induced asthma attack playing with the freeze frame feature with the various clips.

He especially loved this shot:

But the fun didn’t end there.  Next he played some of my monologue scenes in s-u-p-e-r slow motion.  When he finally got up off the floor (whence he had fallen laughing his ass off), he wheezingly compared me to Jabba the Hutt and had a violent coughing fit.

I’m stalling, of course.

What a fun video! Although I wonder if those were really parrots…they looked a little like pigeons from that distance.

When can we expect the next Pearson family video masterpiece?

2. Kara/MountainMama on October 1st, 2008

Okay, I LOVED it! You put so much time and effort into this!!! Laughed out loud when hubby tried to get the parrots on film. (BTW, I wanted more airtime of him – cutie.) And your kids!!! What brilliant sidekicks/co-hosts. I think I need to watch it again….

Way too short!!! It needs to be renamed from SF in 60 sec. to 15 min.

Such fun watching it. Makes you feel like you’re right there having fun too. (I see Rich even starred in one frame).

Seriously though, I wish it could have been so much longer. I guess it’s pretty expensive though to add more minutes?

Great job you camera hogs Jamie, Rich, Avery & Max. At least Milo stayed home.

When’s the sequel?

Love it… incredibly authentic!

This is yet more evidence of your amazing skill and talent. I loved this video. You put so much thought into your “hosting”. I have never seen the elusive “parrots” but have spent many minutes watching the sea lions. Well done, as always. I expect nothing less from TSM.

Great stuff! My kids love the parrots and sea lions the best. They all have the same name, “Chippy”!

Jabba the hutt? More like Princess Leia. Great introduction of video on TravelSavvyMom.

8. Barbara on October 1st, 2008

The kids letting their ya-yas out almost made me spill my coffee on my keyboard. LOL That was great.

This was a very informative video. Nice job.

I can see Jamie as a future talk show host. It inspired me to want to take my family to Chinatown. Great job.

This is fabulous!

Super funny as always!

Cute video. We went to SF this summer and I froze to death even though I had a sweater and jacket. Cold, windy place!

Lots of fun! You are one photogenic mum! Jabba the Hut? What planet does your hubby live on?

My best memory of San Francisco was hiring bicycles from Fisherman’s Wharf, riding around the bay, over the Golden Gate Bridge, down to Sausalito for lunch and then getting the ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf. You probably can’t do that with very young kids though.

I also love Golden Gate Park.

What a fun video! Loved seeing all the family at work and doing great jobs! Loved the yayas – and Jamie you are a natural behind the mike!

Nice job – I am very visual so I appreciate the videos. The sounds in the background make me feel as though I am right there! Thanks to your family for sharing this family travel time…

Cute! Super fun. :-)

Good fun – the yaya sequence cracked me up even more than how my bad internet feed kept stopping the video w/ your mouth open and eyes shut! Looking forward to the next one!!!

Loved it – it’s a great skill to go from being a writer to being a tv host so gracefully!

I still don’t understand why the sea lions are such a draw. Don’t people see enough fat, lazy mammals at home? You and your family are adorable. Nice job!

Took me all day to find time to watch this, but I’m so glad I did. My personal favorite shot was the one of the kiddos with the binoculars. Forgetting binoculars has become something of a running joke in our family – I’m glad you remembered yours.

Did the sea lions smell completely heinous? I remember stopping at a beach at Half Moon Bay once and they were just raunchy.

Very fun. I’m thinking when I buy a new camera mayhaps it must have video.

Loved it! You really portrayed the fun of SF–The camera man deserves some credit too–and the kids are “chips off the blocks”.

22. Susanna on October 2nd, 2008

I used to live at the top of the Filbert steps and I had no idea about the parrots. I’ll pay more attention next time. The sea lions were a pain.

Where are you going next?

23. Mom on October 3rd, 2008

WOW!
You and you’re wonderful family continue to thrill and delight me. You give the gift of laughter, the best gift of all. I am blessed to have you and yours, not only on blog video, but live in person in my life. And, yes Kara, Jamie’s husband Rich is an absolute, total babe.

24. ken solvason on October 3rd, 2008

Great job, do more!

25. Kristy Hall on October 4th, 2008

Jamie –

Just watched the video – I really loved the pacing and of course your hosting abilities. You seemed really natural, upbeat and passionate — it kind of reminded me of Globetrekker for families.

Loved the video. Think I love the fact that your mom called your hubby a babe even more. :)

27. Dominique on October 10th, 2008

Couldn’t resist checking out the videos!

I always try to take photos of our rooms when we check in somewhere…before we’ve settled in, mussed up the place and strewn our stuff all over…but your video of the hotel takes that to a new level. Great extra to go with your regular blog posts!

28. Liny on October 28th, 2008

Wow!! The clip was really amazing. Great work.

29. Dave Gardner on November 6th, 2008

Awesome video! Great commentary. I also liked the sounds of the people, the traffic, and the sea lions… You really captured a lot of the City with that vid clip. (Tell the camera-man that he was doing a good job, too!)

30. michele on January 30th, 2009

great job – i think the kids are destined for comedic theater!

31. Jon on May 25th, 2009

I really like these videos…short pithy clips are the BEST!

Keep em up!

(BTW – have you thought about getting a lapel mic – it could make all the difference)
