Gorgeous scenery, elephants and children-in-mind safari trips make the Garden Route Game Lodge irresistible. Even if your future plans don’t include a safari, check out the photos. Gorgeous!

2. La Costa Resort and Spa: Carlsbad, California

Up-market kid-centric hotel near Legoland and Sea World in San Diego, with plenty of activities for kids as well as adults. Kids will love the swimming pools, with slides. Adults will love the spa, golf and tennis.

3. Hotel Lindner: Oberstaufen, Germany

Although I don’t normally associate Germany with skiing resorts, they have plenty of beautiful ones. Hotel Lindner is in the Bavarian Alps and, according to our reviewer, has better service than The Four Seasons. Well, that makes it worth a look in my opinion.
