Considering it is July, the slopes at Mammoth still have a ton of snow and it's well worth heading up for some end of season runs! The gondola ride is great though cold and windy if you hike over to see the Lakes Basin area from the top. If you go to Devils Postpile, Rainbow Falls is a bit of a hike but well worth it - http://www.skianything.com/2010/06/rainbow-falls-in-mammoth-lakes-near-devils-postpile-national-monument/ and Minaret Falls is also down there along a different trail - http://www.skianything.com/2010/06/visit-minaret-falls-in-devils-postpile-national-monument-in-mammoth-lakes/ It is not quite as stunning as the Rainbow Falls but is still pretty cool!

There are some great summer travels to be had in Colorado's ski country.
We had a wonderful 4th of july weekend getaway to Summit COunty, the heart of ski country... warm days, cool nights, tons of activities and festivals--many free, and unmatched mountain vistas and wildflower valleys.
