Links: Reading, Going First Class, and Zipping

Here are a few highlights from around the web for your consideration as you’re shaking off that mini-Milky Way hangover.  Hopefully your kids are sleeping in.

1. Reading to Kids

Michelle Duffy (a.k.a. WanderMom) has a terrific blog this week about inspiring your kids to enjoy the well-intentioned adventures we plan for them by reading them books before you go. Please add the books, CDs, or movies you’ve used to introduce your kids to destinations at Introducing a Destination to your Child.

2. A Guide to Traveling Well

We all deserve excellent service at a good price when traveling. The blog, Upgrade: Travel Better by Mark Ashley is full of substantial information of how to get just that. It’s smart and well written. His mantra is “Living The First Class Life…At Coach Prices”. Here, here to that!

3. Fun Flying with Teenagers?

Need a cool but less-dangerous-than-bungee-jumping trip with your older kids? Try zip-lining!  Zipping Through the Treetops in The New York Times lists 10 places where you can enjoy the fall foliage by, you know, flying through it.

4. Teenagers Traveling Alone

A short but helpful list for parents whose teenagers are taking their first trip abroad with school or friends: Tips for parents sending kids abroad by Ann Tatko-Peterson of the Contra Costa Times.

5. Happy Birthday, Minnemom!

Last, but definitely not least, happy 1st birthday to Minnemom. This fabulous blog follows Linda and her four children on their travels near and far from their home. It is delightful and well worth a bookmark for fellow family explorers.
