The Children's Museum is great, couldn't agree more. If you're lucky, Laughing Pizza (a local family band) will be performing that day...so much fun for the kids! Aquarium & Coke are always very crowded but if you get there when they first open you will avaoid a good bit of the crampy crowd. The ring fountains are fun too, you can sneak in when the water stops and take a picture once the water makes it's way back. Makes a cool pic of the kids or family.

I lived in Atlanta for five years. It seems to sad to have all those fooled frogs and fish, though my kids liked the aquarium (I skipped it when I was last there). I think the Coke museum is glitzy, overcrowded, and ridiculously overpriced. I'm being a major curmudgeon but I'd recommend NOT going there as well... The children's museum is amazing though. Just bring a sweater in the summer because the air conditioning is freezing. But the best best thing for families in Atlanta is the Center for Puppetry Arts...Also you have to go to Fat Matt's Rib Shack and have a real Georgia eating experience. And the neighborhoods, like Cabbagetown and Litte Five Points (check out Sevananda, the food co-op) and Virginia Heights are great places to window shop, stroll, people watch, and soak up a much more real ambience than the downtown and all the tourist crap.

OK, so I've never imagined myself traveling to Atlanta for family purposes, but with your magic list of 5, you may have convinced me! The aquarium and the children's museum both sound like huge hits!

So, my Mom went scuba diving with whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium last October. The video of this historic event is PRICELESS. Now I want to go myself, but not (must agree with what Sharlene was implying) during the summer.

I have heard great things about the Atlanta aquarium. It is definitly on my must see list! I am sure those fountains are a Godsend during those hot, humid southern summers!
