Don’t Touch Mommy’s Camera

At the tail end of a recent and particularly photogenic vacation, I found time to take a bubble bath. As any traveling mom knows, this is a rare enough occurrence in and of itself. Also it was quiet. Maybe a little too quiet.
After trying (and failing) to relax, I stepped from the tub, wrapped myself in a towel, and padded into the bedroom where I beheld a terrifying sight.
My 6-year-old was monkeying around with my camera.
He can’t seem to stop himself when it comes to laying his hands on my personal electronic devices. I swear to God I once witnessed that kid play with an egg timer for fifteen minutes.
It’s the same with our Flip Video, cell phones, and laptops. I live in constant fear that he will either a) call Kazakhstan, b) see porn, or c) find a heretofore undiscovered “Erase all” menu option.
A smart mom would have got him his own personal electronic devices a long time ago, but apparently I am not that mom. Luckily for me, some product review gizmos arrived in the mail just in the nick of time. Behold the Star Wars Digital Camera Kit and Hello Kitty Digital MP3 Player!
The Reviews
Unsurprisingly, the Star Wars camera takes pictures. So far so good. The included photo editing software also allows your tech-geeking kid to superimpose his head onto various Star Wars characters, create trading cards, and generally goof around on your laptop.
Obviously the creators of this product know their audience.
The MP3 player is pretty handy too. If you’ve ever accidentally played a Jonas Brothers song at a dinner party, then you know just what I’m talking about here. That sort of thing is very bad for your street cred.
My, however, son took one look at this product and pronounced it “girlish”. I had to concede the point. My daughter, on the other hand, perked right up when she saw those pink earbuds and cat-festooned interchangeable face plates.
Win Them!
Want to win these? Of course you do. We’ve got one of each to give away to our lucky readers. Leave a comment here specifying which gizmo you want by midnight Friday. U.S. only please.
