I agree about the George V. It gets a false reputation for snobbery, but it's really very laid back. I also like the neighboring Prince de Galles, which is also very family friendly.

I have stayed at the Pulitzer hotel and come back in Nov-2009. It is really a great hotel. I've stayed there twice, with only a few minor issues. Try to get a room on the top floor if you can; the floors are dilute and we could hear everything going on above us. We were change the room and go to the top floor our last night and it was much enhanced.
