Lani Asato is a mom of two kids under age five living near San Diego, California. Before she had children, she traveled to some of the more remote corners of the world working for Conservation International. At that time, she vowed she would be an intrepid explorer for life, unafraid to take her children anywhere. Now, four years after the birth of her first child, she is just beginning to venture beyond state borders with her family. Recent travails included forgetting mittens for the kids when going to see snow (a spectator sport for southern Californians).
